Your Business Roadmap – How Are You Doing? Where Are You Going?

Video information:

In this video, Ciaran emphasises the importance as a CEO or MD of your own business to know how your business is doing, and where your business is going.

How’s it going? Nice to see you. Now as a CEO or MD of your own business, it’s important you know how your business is doing, and where your business is going. Now, a healthy spin that I use with the businesses I work with is, 25 percent of my time is on how the business is doing. So last month, this month, last week, the current financial and cash position of the company, and 75% can then be freed up to where the business is going, and get everybody including the CEO looking forward, because that’s where all the main challenges of the business and growth are going to lie. So, until you bring in an FD, thoroughly recommend you get some sort of healthy mix that it’s certainly not 100% your time, focused on what you did last year. I would much prefer to see you sorting that out in a quarter of your time. Frees up a huge amount of time and head space to start looking ahead. See you on the next one.

Ciaran is a VirtualFD or freelance finance director for early stage companies. He’s on a mission to help business owners like you to Own Your Numbers. He won FD/CFO of the Year at the 2019 British Accountancy Awards.
